Upgrade of Manufacturing Plant
In 2017, Visy was engaged to manage the end to end logistics movement of a significant volume of machinery and components from six countries across Europe and Asia to Gepps Cross in South Australia over a 7 month period, to upgrade an existing corrugator plant
Visy worked closely with a wide range of stakeholders to thoroughly understand and plan the domestic and international freight requirements. In all, the project involved 150 containerised and break-bulk movements.
Importantly, all movements had to coincide with time critical developer milestones for the corrugator plant upgrade project.
In early discussions, Visy recognised there was an opportunity to explore possible Australian Customs duty concessions and tariff rulings. A subject matter specialist was sought and engaged by Visy.
All scheduled timelines were met across the 7 month project. Staged project dates were met with no delays or setbacks experienced by the customer.
Duty savings in the order of AUD200,000 were achieved.
Shipping to Build a New Corrugators Plant
In 2015, Visy was engaged to manage the shipping of components for the build of a new corrugator plant in Indiana, USA
Visy undertook significant planning to map and timeline the domestic and international transportation of 664 containers, along with break-bulk and RORO (Roll-on/Roll-off) movements, to meet the time sensitive scheduling requirements of the project.
To complete the project, Visy coordinated with FOB suppliers in Asia and Europe along with ocean carriers and specialised domestic transport providers at origin and within the USA.
Throughout the complex 7 month transportation project, Visy met all critical timelines. With no delays or setbacks, the time critical corrugator plant built proceeded was planned.
